What you need to know about Bovitrak technologyBovitrak on board with your current inventory systemsYour Bovitrak account and herd information are accessible via the Internet using the log-in link on every page of the www.beefconcepts.com site. If you have used a herd inventory or health record system, you will find the Bovitrak system very simple. Even if you haven't, you will find Bovitrak easy to use. TaggingEvery animal is tagged with a unique Bovitrak number. The Bovitrak system can also use breed registration or other numbering systems. Tags are both human-readable and machine-readable. Increasingly we are using radio-frequency identification (RF-ID) tags, which facilitate data collection and tracking. Data Entry
Other alternatives for collecting Bovitrak data in the field include using portable laptop computers or even preprinted Bovitrak worksheets for later entry into the Bovitrak database. Inventory and StandardsAll Bovitrak tags incorporate a machine-readable bar code, making the system fully compatible with processor and retailer inventory systems. Bovitrak also has built-in compliance with the product identification guidelines set out by EAN International in Europe and the Uniform Code Council Inc. in North America. ReportsGenerating Bovitrak reports is literally a two or three keystroke procedure. You simply select from a suite of reports generated on your animals' data. Aggregate reporting is also available on an organization or breed basis. SecurityBecause the Bovitrak database is centrally located and mirrored in data backups, you don't have to worry about data security. Even if your home or office computer crashes, all Bovitrak data is safe on the central site. System RequirementsRunning Bovitrak requires a computer with web browser software (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer). We require your computer to have up-to-date security settings (128-bit encryption) to ensure that all transactions are confidential. If your security settings require updating, log onto www.microsoft.com or your browser manufacturer's web site. Security updates are generally free of charge. Bovitrak access has been tested on both dial-up and high-speed ADSL Internet connections. Both give satisfactory service, but uploading data and downloading reports is faster on a high-speed connection. |
